Cricket Coaching Monday 25th August

We were very fortunate today to have Michael and Freddy from Mainland Cricket come to school and provide some coaching for us. We learnt how to throw and catch the cricket ball. Then we had a quick game of cricket.

Our weekly science experiment

Mrs Spicer shared a new experiment with us today.
It involved using diet coke and mentos peppermints.
This is a fun experiment but be warned if doing this at home please do it outside.

We thought of these words to describe what happened.
exploding - spicy - waterfall - sticky - eruption - carbon dioxide - fizzy - fuzzy - tickly

Our weekly science experiment gets our minds thinking.

This weeks science experiment was to see whether an orange floats or sinks.

4 children thought the orange would float and 14 children thought the orange would sink.

What do you think? Try this at home.

Welcome back to Term 3.
A rather cold start but I trust you all had a great break over the holidays.

I would like to welcome Leanne Spicer to our class for the next 5 weeks.

Kia ora,

My name is Leanne Spicer and I am in my third year at University of Canterbury College of Education, studying towards a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning (Primary).

I will be in room 15 as a Student Teacher from the 21 July until the 22nd of August 2014.  My purpose is to observe and assist with teaching and classroom activities during this time.

I am a mother of two children, my eldest is a second year University student and my youngest is year 13 at a local High School.  I have enjoyed many years as an active PTA parent and worked as a swim school instructor, prior to my studies.

I look forward to working with your children and meeting you and whānau over the next few weeks.
